Razorback All School’s Rugby League Carnival

Our u/ 12’s put in a very brave effort considering over half the team were year 5’s (a great sign for next year). We won one game and lost one and missed out on the semis on a for and against of 1 point! We were the only team to trouble the team that went on to win the grand final, so we can take plenty of positives away for next year.
The u/10’s had a fantastic day going through the day as undefeated champions. The boys improved with every game and won the grand final without conceding a point. The team received a medal from the Country Rugby League and a winners plaque to hang on the wall in the office. Our boys will now go through to play St.Thomas Aquinas of Bowral in the regional final at Thirlmere on the 25th May with the winner of that game to play at the NSW All-Schools Finals day at Penrith later in the term.
A big thanks goes to Mr.Chanter for coaching the u/12’s and Mr.Bell for coaching the u/10’s and Mr.Collins for assisting with the u/10/s. Without the coaches, the boys would not have been as well prepared as they were for the day. Also, to the parents, for their great support on the day, during the training program and assisting with washing the jerseys. The future of rugby League at St.Pauls is very healthy with a lot of talent, good coaching and involvement from parents and more game time for the boys. Good luck at Thirlmere! Mr.Ras
Diocesan Cross Country

On May 8th thirty two of our students competed at the Diocesan Cross Country Carnival at Camberwarra. Again I was extremely proud of how our students competed at this level with all students finishing in the top half of their respective age groups. They showed great determination and sportsmanship which was rewarded by our school finishing seventh out of twenty nine schools competing on the day. One of our student Dylan even after being knocked over picked himself up and continued the race showing great St Paul's spirit.

Easter Liturgy
We gathered before Easter, to remember Jesus’ story of love for us as we recalled his journey of Palm Sunday, the Washing of the feet, the Eucharist on Holy Thursday and His death on the Cross on Good Friday. On Friday May 4th we continued the story of Jesus, celebrating the life that has come from such love, Jesus’ Resurrection - Jesus story of new life. As we celebrated, we were filled with hope and joy and we were called to renew our lives and our relationships with each other. During this Catholic Schools Week, we reflected on the great gift of education, which opens us all to new learning and insights about our God, our world and about ourselves.

U/11 Mackillop Rugby League trials
Cameron and Tom from Year 5 travelled down to Canberra on Friday 4 May 2012 to represent St Paul’s and the Wollongong Diocese in the Mackillop Rugby League trials for the under 11s boys. The boys played 6 games throughout the day and both boys gave it their best and played well against some tough competition. Unfortunately Cameron and Tom were not selected for the MacKillop team. Well done and good luck next year boys!

Last week was a busy one for our school. We had many parents visit classrooms and we celebrated Catholic Schools Week with a beautiful liturgy in the church on Friday. We will have open classrooms again on the Feast day of St Joachim and Anne, grandparents of Jesus. This is our traditional Grandparents day, but all parents are always welcome to visit classrooms on this day. Mark Thursday 26 July 2012 in your calendar and tell the children’s grandparents.

In Term One 6H and Miss Small had the opportunity to create dances to present at the end of term. It was a wonderful experience to work as a team, to dance with emotion, to create a feel for movement and to make shapes through movement. We divided into groups of five and chose a song to do with Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter. We loved dancing in Term one. By Teegan.

Thank you to all the parents, teachers and students who helped make our Cross Country Carnival a success. It was lovely to see such great sportsmanship amongst all of the students. Special thanks to Year 6 for dressing up and helping with the infants events. Congratulations to the students who have been selected to represent St Paul’s at the Primary Cross Country Championships on Tuesday 8 May 2012 at Nowra. Photos

This term we started our group novel studies called Literature Circles. When we finished our book we were asked to present our novel to the class. There were lots of different types of presentations including iMovies, plays, PowerPoints, board games, murals and models. The presentations were very entertaining and they were so much fun to prepare. Photos

Our boys emerged victorious by scoring 108 runs in 30 overs while St. Thomas were all out for only 33 runs. Congratulations to all the boys for their overall superb performance. Camden Show Ducks
On Thursday March 22nd the whole school went to a duck show. The ducks were dressed up and they came close to us. Everyone screamed when they came close. That was when they came around the circle. After that a dog came out called Max. He kept the ducks together. We enjoyed the duck show. by Rocky Year 2. Photos

On Friday the 16th of March it was Anti Bullying Day across Australia and to reflect on this Year 5 did a flash mob dance. We wore an orange T-shirt as it is the colour of bullying. We were getting the message across that bullying in our school and anywhere else is not acceptable. We performed the dance on Wednesday March 21st which was also Harmony day. During the dance some of the Year Five students were carrying around signs saying respect, no bullying, bully free zone and stop bullying today. We all had a lot of fun and definitely got our message across. By Year Five. Photos

St Patrick’s Day
On Friday 16 March 2012, Students celebrated St Patricks Day with a small liturgy during assembly to remember St Patrick and work he did in the early church. The children were invited to wear something green with their uniform on the day and make a gold coin donation to Cartias.

On Tuesday March 20th, Amelia, Luke, Ella and I were lucky enough to met Grant Denyer the weather man from Sunrise at the Camden Showground. He went up very high on a fire truck crane, rode in a Toyota car sideways and watched a duck show. There was also a man riding around on a huge bull. Grant was very nice but he is very short and I am nearly as tall as him. Mr Boardman also made Bush tucker for him. I can’t wait to go to the show with my class on Friday. by Hannah.

Kindergarten Buddies
At long last on Thursday March 15th Year Six got their Kindergarten Buddies. It was a wonderful experience to work with them. Having a buddy is a big responsibility but we are ready. We look forward to taking them to the Camden Show and helping them settle in St Paul’s.

On Thursday March 15th thirteen students represented our school at the Diocesan Team Selection Trials at Corrimal Pool. There was some amazing competition from the other schools in the Diocese. I have a sneaking suspicion that there were a few future olympians there or fish impersonating primary school students. All children swam exceptionally and again I was very proud of the way

Western Region Swimming Carnival
On Tuesday March 7th thirty one students represented our school at the Western Region Swimming Carnival at Bradbury Pool. There was some great competition from the twelve other schools in the Macarthur region. All children swam to the best of their ability and I was very proud of the way they represented our school especially in our new swimming caps. St Paul's came third in the overall point score.

On Thursday February 17th, we experienced a beautiful Opening of Year Liturgy. This was the first official liturgy for our Kindergarten students and they participated really well. Congratulations to our 2012 SRC who were given their badges during the liturgy and we look forward to a positive year for all our students. The staff and students who prepared the liturgy are to be commended on such a fine effort. The music was excellent, the reading was exemplary and the powerpoint and mass planning were extremely well done. We are fortunate to have such a committed staff and community. Photos
